A balanced mix of minimalist sensibilities and charming rustic elements can be found at this airy, inter-terrace landed home in Serangoon Gardens.

The renovation of the 1950s single-storey, inter-terrace house in a tranquil Serangoon Gardens neighbourhood transformed the house into a bright yet cosy haven that is perfect for family gatherings. By removing the false ceiling in the living area, the exposed timber structure of the pitched roof and party wall’s exposed bricks add a rustic accent while increasing the sense of space almost two-fold due to the heightened ceiling.

While the walls of the living room, kitchen and bathroom were kept white to make the spaces feel airier and lighter, to match the stylistic bent of the owner, graphical elements were introduced to the spice up the space through the choice of flooring, Palladiana terrazzo in the kitchen, and Dekton liquid sky in the bathroom which continued onto the walls, which immediately draw the eyes and convey the vibrant and lively character of the owner.

The custom textured rose-coloured wall in the master bedroom affords a restful and inviting atmosphere to retreat to. The low-hanging pendant lights at each side of the bed, when lit at night, provide a warm glow to the space which adds to the romanticism in the bedroom.
